This is one of my 'before and after' pictures. On a scale of 1 - 5, I would rate first picture below as 1. I have had worse; zeroes that get deleted quickly.
The first picture (below) is straight out of the camera, with the exception of cropping the size of the photo to 14 x 11 inches.
The second photo has had some post processing, with some adjustments to the highlights, some brightening, added contrast, color and tone increases, and leveling the horizon. Some composition rules can be broken, but I think that the horizon is not one of them.
Better than the original, but I did not like the sky that seemed too blase and out of place with the surf.
From a file containing skies, I added a sky layer to the photo that I liked better. There are steps to take in aligning and trimming the newly added layer so it will line up with the primary photo. I had to make adjustments to the sky layer so color and hue would blend with the other photo.
