JULY 30, 2018

We took a weekend trip to Washington, GA, which is about half way between Athens, Georgia that is, and Augusta.

Washington is like taking a step back in time.  The big attractions are the antebellum homes, which are open a few times per year.  We did not get to go in any.  I think that there is one around Christmas and during the month of April.  There is the Callaway Plantation on the outside of town.  A Google search with give much information about this.  The pictures are of buildings on the plantation.

Before going to the plantation, we ate lunch at an unusual restaurant called Cade's Home Cooking.  A limited Southern, Home-Cooked buffet menu but all I can say is that everything we had was delicious.  The Peach Cobbler was the best!

Zero ambiance, but a little treasure.  Mrs. Cade does all the cooking and her husband works the dining room and is a delightful man.

Here are a few pictures from the plantation.  More pictures will be posted of the town soon.

The pictures in order are the Main House, the Ironing Shed (rear), the Smoke House, the front of the Ironing Shed, the School, Linda in the school, a Corn Crib, and 3 pictures of the Work Shed.

This past Saturday we were going to go to Washington, GA but a severe storm came through and was heading toward were we were going.  So we had a change of plans.  We took a two hour trip to the Brasstown resort for lunch and then to Helton Creek Falls.  We will go to Washington this coming weekend.

The first picture is the view that we enjoyed as we had a delightful buffet lunch.  We spent some time taking it all in and taking some pictures.  Go figure!  A few of the flowers, the lobby with it's fireplace and antler chandeliers, and the view as we left.

On the way to the falls, this little country church stood out atop of a hill.

Then it was onto the falls.  There are two falls; the lower falls and the upper falls.  There are two pictures of the upper falls.  I had to tranverse the creek to get the second shot.  The picture in the middle of the two falls is the creek flowing over the rock formation.

Here are a few pictures from Euralee and Cartersville, GA.  Some of the photos are re-takes from a few years ago.

The covered bridge is in Euralee, which is just outside of Cartersville of the Rockmart Highway.

The stylish home belonged to Sam Jones, who was a most interesting person.  Google "Samuel Porter Jones" for some very interesting reading.

The other pictures are a sampling of Cartersville.

JULY 8, 2018

I was going through photos from the past and came across this one, which was taken on December 7, 2012.

I became fixated on it...  One of my thoughts is that it looks 'Monet-ish,' as in Claude.  Another is that of 'Serenity.'  More thoughts are coming and I am thinking about them.  Maybe I am over-thinking.

July 2, 2018

"If it is a photo, it most likely has been 'photo-shopped."  The word 'photoshop' is being used as a synonym for 'post-processing' a photograph.  Adobe's software, Photoshop, is the gold standard for post processing photos.  I would add that it costs a little gold to purchase it.

However, there are many others available that are great to use, such as, Lightroom, Photoshop Elements, On! Photo Raw, which has become my favorite, and the list goes on and on.

Today's photos have been photo-shopped.  As if one could not tell.  there are some photos that will stand out to me that, with which some processing, could be turned into (here comes more single quotes) 'Photo Art.'

There are a host of widgets to use.  Lens flare, textures, black and White, with a highlighted color, and etc.  Here are some examples.
