We headed out Saturday with no place in mind but ended up in Cornelia, GA,, which is our second time there. It is the home of the Big Red Apple, which I learned from a Google search was that the monument was donated by Southern Railway, and for many years
a festival was held in celebration of the apples grown in the area. The apple is constructed of steel and concrete and was molded in Winchester, Virginia, in 1925. It was shipped to the town by train. It stands at the railroad station along with a Southern Railway Red Caboose.
We had lunch at Fenders Diner, which is a must for those who like diners. It is 'retro' all over... The telephone booth has a telephone in it, although I do not think that it is operable. The inside of the diner so classic! The food... well, today was not as we expected compared with our first visit. I will still return to Fenders Diner. I did not get pictures from the inside this time. I erred in not having a lens for this with me.

Now that is one huge apple! Wow. I haven't seen an actual phone booth in I have no idea how long... pay phones yes, but a booth? No. I never saw a diner that wasn't open for breakfast... but I am glad you enjoyed it!
