When in Rome... Rome, Georgia that is...

We took a day trip 70 miles west to the city of Rome, GA Saturday.  One of the locals; she was actually from Cave Springs, GA, told us the it was named after someplace in Italy.  Not only that, but both places have seven hills and that there are statues at City Hall of Romulus and Remus, courtesy of its namesake.

Ironically, each of the early founders had different names to name the town and the drew a name out of a hat.  hey, it was on the Internet, so it must be true...  (a common hyperbole).

I use to go there with my previous job and know of the 'clocktower,' but never took the opportunity to see it.

Check out this link for an historical account of the tower:  http://romegeorgia.org/attraction/city-clocktower/

The third picture has Linda, who is 5'-7" against the 63'-0" tower for a little perspective.

The remaining pictures are of the skyline taken from the tower.
